This Procedure can restore hair to area of baldness through the transplantation of hundreds of hair micrografts from donor areas on the back of the head. This will enhance appearance and improve self-confidence.

It is very important to know that the grafts are taken from existing hair and therefore the amount of grafts will depend on the amount of donor hair.

Surgical Procedure

• A strip of hair is harvested from the donor site at the back of the head where hair is abundant.
• This is dissected into micrografts with the aid of a stereoscopic Dissecting Microscope, each graft containing 1-3 hair strands.
• These Grafts are then implanted into the bald area
• Pressure dressing will be positioned over the donor site to prevent bleeding.

Risks of Surgery
As with any surgery, bleeding and infection are risks of Hair Transplantation. There is also the risk that some of the grafts will not take to their new due to multiple factors including poor blood supply to the area. On occasions, when the grafts die, resurgery may be necessary.

It is normal for the hair on the transplanted hair plugs to fall out during the first few months following surgery but these will regrow as the grafts are established in their new location.

As hair loss continues with age, an unnatural "patchy" look may result and additional surgery may be required. Repeat surgery s highly dependent on the availability of hair on the donor site.

Post Operative Care

• Prepare a clean hat to wear after surgery to protect the implanted area
• Keep the wound clean and dry
• Avoid alcohol & smoking

Follow-up Instructions:
Patient should come back the day after surgery for shampooing and 3 days after surgery for wound check and dressing. Sutures will be removed 7 days after the surgery.

Note: The implanted hair will fall out after 3-4 weeks, leaving behind the hair follicles. New hair will go back naturally.
