Nose Surgery (Rhinoplasty)
Dr.Glusac's Philosophy on the Art of Nasal Surgery
Nasal Plastic surgery should be only performed by a surgeon with very strong aesthetic abilities. In addition, the nasal plastic procedure should be performed with minimal surgical trauma to the nose, no external incisions, matching of all facial features, very natural look, cause minimal pain and discomfort to the patient, and be performed under the highest standards of safety.
Nose Surgery, Rhinoplasty, is surgical procedure used to reshape the nose so that it is in perfect harmony with other facial features. Rhinoplasty can reduce or increase the size of your nose, change the shape of the tip or the bridge, narrow the span of the nostrils or change the angle between your nose and your upper lip. It many also correct a birth defect or injury, or help relieve some breathing problems. Surgery to improve nasal function can performed at the same time as plastic rhinoplasty. The incisions for this procedure are generally inside the nose and therefore are not visible.
Dr.Glusac is one of the few plastic nasal surgeons who DOES NOT send the patient home with packing in the nose. He strives to achieve a natural looking result that DOES NOT look altered with surgery. Dr.Glusac is both a board certified Facial Plastic Surgeon and board certified Ear, Nose, and Throat (Otolaryngologist) Surgeon. He is also a member of the European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery and German Society of Aesthetic Surgery. When the patient reaches the age of 15 or 16, and the nose has reached its fullsize, a nose surgery can be performed. The operation is perfomed in our office operating suite under general anesthesia, after appropriate 2-hour pre-operative blood testing and physical examination.This procedure is sometimes perfomed simultaneously with correction of a deviated septum and clogged sinuses to help improve breathing and eliminate headaches.The patient is free to leave our offices one hour after the surgery and enjoy their time in beautiful town of Makarska. Stitches on the inside of the patient's nose do not require removal. The healing process usually takes about one week and can be performed in the comfort of our private surgery center.
The best candidates for nose plastic surgery
The best candidates for rhinoplasty are people who are looking to improve their facial appearance. If you're physically healthy, psychologically stable, and realistic in your expectations you many be a good candidate. Rhinoplasty is also indicated for correction of deformities following trauma (nasal fracture) or disease, correction of asymmetry and for improvement of the nasal airway.

OTOPLASTY (EAR SURGERY)
Protruding ears can be corrected by reshaping and resetting them to a normal position. It is recommended that protruding ears ate repaired by the age of 5 or 6, by which time the ears have almost reached complete development. After a complete ear examination by our medical ear expert, surgical options can be discussed between Dr.Glusac and the patient, according to patient's wishes.
Special Techniques
Ear surgery (Otoplasty) can be performed under local anesthesia in adults, but requires sedation in children.The incision lies in the back of the ear, in order to avoid scar detection. Ear surgery usually takes about one to two hours. Due to dr. Glusac's special technique, there is no need for suture removal, which parents and children appreciate. That technique does not leave any scars. With dr. Glusac's special technique a headband is mandatory ONE DAY ONLY, while with the usual techniques the headband is mandatory for one week.
Note: Otoplasty surgery can enhace your self confidence. Realistic expectations are important to be happy with any surgery. As each patient is an individual, different results can be expected in each patient.
EYELID SURGERY (BLEPHAROPLASTY)
If your look tired, angry and older that you really are, an eyelift may be the answer. Eyelifts are among the most commonly requested surgical procedures in both men and women. Upper lid droopiness tends to make someone look both tired and a bit cross, while lower lid bagging tends to make a person look older. Eyelift can make you look younger, fresher, more interested and alert. Eyelid surgery can remove the excess fat, muscule and drooping skin of the upper eyelids and minimize bags under the eyes and lower eyelid skin.The upper lid incision falls into the natural crease above the eye.The incision of the lower lid is just under the eyelashes, although sometimes it can bemade on the inside of the eyelid (Tranconjunctival approach). Eyelid surgery needs a very short recovery time. Sometimes only a few days or a long weekend. Dr. Glusac often combines eyelid surgery with a facelift, as well as other facial rejuvenation procedures.

Tips: Acool compress is suggested for the first 24 hours. Sutures will be removed 4 to 5 days after surgery. you can begin using make-uo to conceal discoloration after one week.
LIP AUGMENTATION (LIP ENCHANCEMENT)
If you were born with THIN lips,or if aging has caused your lips to flatten,now you can do something about it.There are several lip augmentation procedures available today to enhance the size and shape of your lips.All involve inserting a synthetic, biocomopatible material (Restylane,Esthelis).You can even use tissue from your own body.Lip augmentation is performed under local anesthesia on an outpatient basis.Recovery takes about a 2-3 days,after wich your lips will feel normal and look marvelous.
FACELIFT
A facelift can make you look younger and fresher,and it may enhanceyour self-confidence in the process. Over time, the long-term effects of gravity, exposure to sun, dry air, and general stress takes its toll on an individual's face and neckline. Jowls can develop under the jawline with folds and fat deposits. Sometimes creases begin to form between the nose and the mouth.
A Facelift can considerably reduce these signs of aging by removing excess fat, tightening the underlying muscles, and redraping the skin around the neck and face. Facelifts can be done alone, or frequently performed in conjunction with another procedure such as a browlift, eyelid surgery, or nose reshaping. If your problem areas are limited to the neck, a more conservative procedure, known as a "necklift" will be recommended. In some cases, a facelift can reduce the outward signs of aging by ten or fifteen years.

What is Minilift?
A minilift is a procedure performed in the doctor's office that lifts the cheeks, lower eyelids and jowls and restores the natural curves and fullnedd in the cheecks and face. It's much less invasive than a facelift and is suitable for patientss with minimal looseness and sagging.

Indications: Usually men and women over forthy years old, but even people in their thirties can improve their appearance by these procedures. Tightening and elevating sagging tissues of face and neck volumetric rejuvenation, with complete restoration of soft tissue is done. Lifting should be done in combination with eyelid surgery, forehead lifting, liposculpture or surface peel by dermabrasion, laser or chemical. The main aim of the procedure is to make face firmer and younger. The incisions are made within the hairline, just in front of the ear and wrap around the back of the ear. The skin of the fae and neck is separated, the excess skin is removed with previous tightening of muscular tissues to achieve long-lasting effect. Liposuction is sometimes needed to be done to remove fatty deposits from jowls and neck in order to define them better.
FAT TRANSFER (AUTOLOGUS FAT IMPLANTS )
Depressions on the face or body can be corrected with one;s own fat.Lips can also be pumped with fat. Autologus fat(adipose tissue)transfer is today,s number one filling agent for wrinkles and creases on our faces.This procedure can be used alone or in combination with other facial rejuvenation procedures like face lifting, eyelid surgery to treat wrinkles. Since it is the patient's own fat there is no risk of rejection. No ossibility of allergies.
THE PROCEDURE: This operation is done under lokal anesthesia during wich a very tiny incision is made inthe donor site,usually the abdomen.The fat is then centrifuged and reinjected via fine needle cannulas. No sutures are needed.
POST OPERATORY
The patient leaves after the procedure is done.We always place some ice over the treated areasso there is the least swelling possible.You can expect swelling for the first 48 hours.Also they are very easy to cover up with makeup.
DERMABRASION ( SURGICAL SKIN PLANNING )
Dermabrasion helps to improve the look of scarred or sun damaged skin. It is frequently used to treat acne scars or to erase fine,facial wrinkles for a more youthful look.Dr.Glusac uses dermabrasion most often for the treatment of perioral Wrinkles(around the mouth) and for treatment of acne scars.Recovery is ofen quicker and less painful than laser treatment for similar problems. The results are excellent. Dermabrasion can be perfommed in the office Under local anesthesia with sedation. The procedure usually takes less than an hour To perform and can be done in conjunction with other procedures.
Botox
Botox Cosmetic is commonly used to reduce or eliminate the appearance of facial wrinkles. It is injected under the skin into areas surrounding the eyes, forehead and mouth to smooth crow's feet, frown and worry lines, and lines on the neck. Made from a purified protein, BOTOX injections block nerve impulses, weakening muscles to relax wrinkles and give the face a rejuvenated look. BOTOX may also be
useful for migraine headaches, excessive sweating, and eye and enck muscle spasms.
Breast Enlargement (Augmentation Mammoplasty)
For a woman that feels that her breast are too small or not the right shape, surgical breast enhancement can be the answer. Breast enhancement procedure achieves the optimal breast size and shape, while improving the overall body contour. Patients usually decide to have the breast enhancement surgery for personal reasons, such as to increase the breast size or to regain the pre-pregnancy shape that the breasts lost during breast-feeding.

THE BEST CANDIDATES FOR BREAST AUGMENTATION
The best candidates for breast augmentation are looking for improvement, not perfection, in the way they look. If you are physically healthy and realistic in your expectations, you are likely to be a good candidate.
TYPES OF IMPLANTS
A breast implant is a silicone shell filled with either silicone gel or a salt-water solution know as saline. Dr.Glusac uses safe, FDA-approved saline implants of various textures and shapes for beautiful contour and natural, comfortable results.
THE OPERATION
The operation involves the insertion of saline implants through an incision under the breast, around the areola (pigmented skin around nipple), surrounding the nipple, or in the armpit. The placement of the breast implant may be above or below the muscle. It is usually performed under general anesthesia in the operating facillity.
POST—OPERATIVE CARE
A special bra is worn for two weeks after the surgery. After it is removed, the patient needs to massage the breasts regularly. Patients may return to non-strenuous work after a few days. Stitches do not need to be removed, since they will dissolve on their own in ten to fourteen days. Showering is permitted between three and seven days following the surgery.

BREAST LIFT (MASTOPEXY)
After considerable weight loss due to dieting and after pregnancy, breasts tend to sag. They often shrink in size.The breast lift surgery helps to recontour the breasts and lift the nipples. In some cases breast implants are also necessary in order to restore the original breast volumen. Breast lift does not only re-shape sagging breasts,
PLANNING
Once you decide to have a breast lift, Dr.Glusac will explain the entire procedure to you. You can discuss with him all your expectations and don't need to be afraid to ask any questions. Mammograms (breast X-rays) and a routine breast exam are required before the surgery.
Surgical Procedure: Depending on the size and shape, many surgery techniques exists.
The most performed are: Vertical technique with scar around the nipple and only vertical scar extending downwards, which has small wrinkles for two months, and with time disappear. Peri-areolar technique with just circular scar around the nipple, at the begining it has wrinkles but they disappear under the pressure of mammary gland. It is not suitable for large breasts.
If augmentation of breasts is to be done, implant can be placed in front or behind the gland, but most often under muscle.
Post Surgery Recovery: Resuming normal activities after 5-7 days.
Special Bra is recommended.

Scars: There are scars around and below the nipples.

BREAST REDUCTION (REDUCTION MAMMOPLASTY)
Women with very large, pendulous breasts may experience a variety of medical problems, caused by the excessive breast weight, ranging from back and neck pain or skin irritation to skeletal deformities and breathing problems. If you decide to have the breast reduction surgery, Dr. Glusac will examine your breasts and talk to you about the desired size of your breasts and will show you where he intends to position the nipple and areola. The procedure is usually performed under general anesthesia. The operation takes about 3-4 hours, during which fat and extra tissue are removed. The scars are around the areola and down to the underside of the breast. A supportive bra is worn for several weeks and patients can usually return to work 5-7 days after the surgery.
MALE BREAST REDUCTION (GYNECOMASTIA)
Gynecomastia, or excess development of breast tissue, occurs in as many as 40-60% of men. The cause is not always known, but the incidence increases with certain prescription drugs, use of steroid anabolics or alcohol. Breast reduction surgery may significantly help your appearance and self-image. The procedure is used to remove fat and glandular tissue from the breasts. The result is a flatter, firmer and more masculine-looking chest.
CANDIDATES: Ages 18 to 60

INVERTED NIPPLE CORRECTION
As many as 2% of Croatian women have at least one inverted nipple and still the subject of nipple inversion is seldom discussed among friends or in the media. Most cases of inverted nipples are congenital: some people are just born that way. However, some nipples become inverted after breastfeeding when scar tissue builds in the milk ductus. The surgery consists of a small incision at the base of the nipple while the nipple is protected.
LENGHT OF PROCEDURE: 30 minutes
ANESTHESIA: Local anesthesia
SCARS: Tiny scars around the nipple.
RECOVERY: 2-3 days.
RESULTS: Visible in 1-2weeks.
LIPOSUCTION (LIPOSCULPTURE, LIPOPLASTICA)
Liposuction, body sculpting or suction-assisted lipectomy has become one of the most common cosmetic surgery procedures perfomed today. Liposuction is the permanent removal of fat using a suction technique. It is a contouring procedure that is used to reshape specific areas of the body. Nearly every part of the body has been successfully treated with liposuction. For women, the most common areas treated are thighs (saddle-bags), hips, stomach and neck (often instead of a facelift, particularly in younger patients). For men, the most problematic areas are waist («love handles»), stomach, chest (including male breasts or«gynecomastia») and neck. Liposuction is frequently combined with other operations, such asfacelifts, breast reductions, tummy tucks, and a variety of reconstructive procedures,to maximize their effect. Liposuction removes fat cells permanently and they don't reoccur.Using one or more small, hidden incisions, a cannula (a hollow tube) is inserted under the skin. Patients who also have depressions in their bodies can benefit from liposculpture. Fat can be injected in the face to smooth folds and wrinkles and in the body to improve contour of areas such as buttocks, thighs and legs. The compressive garment is worn continuously for 3 weeks after the surgery to limit swelling and ensure proper skin contraction. The Tumescent Liposuction technique requires only a local anesthetic and adrenaline, NO GENERAL ANESTHESIA is required. The tumescent technique greatly reduces tissue trauma and bleeding from liposuction in addition to eliminating the risks associated with general anesthesia.

TUMMY TUCK (ABDOMINAL LIPECTOMY, ABDOMINOPLASTY)
Abdominoplasty is a very good procedure, espeially for women who have had children. Pregnacy usually causes skin laxity and separation of the abdominal muscle (diastasis recti). Sretch marks are also common results of pregnancy.An abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) can help get rid of the excess, loose skin. Abdominoplasty, know more commonly as »tummy tuck» is a major surgical procedure used to remove excess skin and fat from the middle and lower abdomen and to tighten the muscles of the abdomen wall. The procedure can dramatically reduce the appearance of a protruding abdomen. The surgery is performed through a lower abdominal incision, which is usually hidden. The skin is stretched down and additional skin may be removed. Suction lipectomy can be combined and performed in some cases on abdomen, hips or elsewhere.Your doctor may select general anesthesia, so you'll sleep through the operation.A Mini Tummy Tuck or partial abdominoplasty, may be recommended for patients that are within 10% of their ideal body weight. A Mini Tummy Tuck is a variation of this procedure that removes and tightens skin only below the umbilicus (belly button). It is usually combined with a liposuction of the entire stomach and, if indicated, the hips and thighs.

Local Attractions
City of Makarska
Makarska - a picturesque city of enchanting beauty, which lives of tourism and for tourism; the city of youth, culture, sport, and fun. The winner of various awards for its successes in tourism.
The city encompasses picturesque villages at the foot of the Biokovo Mountain, including Veliko Brdo, Puharići, Kotišina and Makar (which is where the name of Makarska comes from).
Makarska is one of the most famous tourist destinations on the Croatian coast, attractive for its nature and good climate, rich in tourist attractions and full of hospitable hosts.
To this day, Makarska is known for its sandy beach, which is almost 2 kilometers long. The walkways are lined with pine trees and surrounded by luxury hotels, tourist facilities, and gastronomical havens, and there is plenty of fun for both adults and children.
The best way to become familiar with the history of this city is by visiting the Franciscan monastery which recently celebrated its 500th anniversary.
The city museum can be found on the waterfront, as well as the church of St. Filip. The renovated church of St. Petar is located in the St. Petar park, a spot with a beautiful view of the city, magnificent Mount Biokovo and the open sea.
Makarska is one of the top destinations in Europe - unpoluted, eccological, food... The climate in Makarska on the Croatian coast is Mediterranean.

Bol, Island of Brac
Bol is town on the south coast of the Island of Brac, popular Croatian holiday destination.
The biggest atraction in Bol is beach Zlatni rat (Golden Cape), pebble beach that streches itself 500 meters into the sea and changes direction of its top influenced with strong sea currents. In Bol and surrounding area, you will find many other beaches, as well as private coves.
Bol offers possibilities for active vacation (scuba diving, windsurfing, biking, tennis), relaxing (welness centers), interesting landscapes and sightseeing (Blaca, Dragon Cave, excursions).
ADVENTURE ON THE RIVER CETINA
Without any doubt, the river Cetina is one of the nicest places in Croatia where you can experience the magic of a rafting adventure. It is situated in a luscious region surrounded by quaint little villages. There are lots of stories surrounding the naming of this river. Passed down through the centuries several theories on the naming of the Cetina River have emerged. One possibility is that some of the first Croatians that came down from Northern Europe towards the warmer Southern coast, finding the river and naming it Cetina because it reminded them of the river "Cetynia", in Southern Poland which was their last Nomadic residence.
Plitvice Lakes
The Plitvice Lakes National Park, Croatia's most popular tourist attraction, was granted UNESCO World Heritage status in 1979. Located roughly halfway between capital city Zagreb and Zadar on the coast, the lakes are definitely a must-see.
The beauty of the National Park lies in its sixteen lakes, inter-connected by a series of waterfalls, and set in deep woodland populated by deer, bears, wolves, boars and rare bird species. The National Park covers a total area of 300 square kilometres, whilst the lakes join together over a distance of eight kilometres. There's also quite an altitude difference - the highest point is at 1,280m, the lowest at 380m - although the total height difference between the lakes themselves is only 135m.
