Teeth Whitening
Discoloured teeth are the bane of tea and coffee drinkers, red wine buffs and smokers. Don’t despair: a safe and effective remedy is available. We will be able to determine whether your teeth are suitable for bleaching before making a thin bleaching tray that fits comfortably over your teeth. This is worn with a small amount of tooth whitening material for 14-21 days or nights. While you wear the bleaching tray, it gently whitens your teeth. According to research, whitening is perfectly safe for teeth and gums. The effect on your teeth is the same as drinking a can of coke. If you carry on with the coffee, red wine and smoking, you can re-brighten your smile by wearing the tray for one or two nights every six to nine months.

Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain Veneers are ideal for creating beautiful smiles in cases of small, oddly shaped, spaced or discoloured teeth. Thin skins of porcelain are then bonded to the teeth enabling normal social and eating activities to resume immediately. Porcelain Crowns
For many years, traditional crowns have been used to strengthen teeth that are heavily filled, weakened or darkened due to root canal therepy. Now thanks to new technology, Porcelain Crowns look better than your own teeth. This is because the distinctive dark metal line or "Blue Halo" of old style crowns has been eliminated. Porcelain Crowns are metal-free and so natural looking they can be mistaken for real teeth.

Composites Fillings
Many people have amalgam fillings. These are the silver coloured metal restorations that were the standard care for many years. They were effective in their time, but are not aesthetic, and tend to darken or blacken with time. Today there are tooth coloured materials which can replace your old metal fillings.

Dental Implants
A dental implant is a small titanium screw that serves as a replacement for the root portion of a missing natural tooth. The implant is placed in the bone of the upper or lower jaw and allowed to integrate with the bone. It can then serve as the base for the new restoration. Implants can replace one or more teeth and may support a bridge or denture. The restored implant will look and feel like a natural tooth. Implant treatment is now a well-established technique with a success rate of more than 95% over a fifteen year period. The metal used, Titanium, is well proven for strength and safety in hip replacement. These are carried out in conjunction with the Arundel Implant Clinic.

Headaches & Bite Problems
The lower jaw, the facial muscles and the jaw joints are all part of a system that is controlled by the brain. Because we have a detailed understanding of the system, we can detect specific reasons that cause harmful bite patterns and neck and head pain. The benefit to you as a client is to have comfortable, long lasting dentistry. In addition, we can get rid of those long standing regular headaches.

Gum Disease
Gum Disease is caused by a build up of the bacteria which live in the plague and tarter on your teeth. The harmful chemicals produced by the bacteria irritate your gums causing them to bleed.

If you don't remove plaque everyday, you may find that your gums become swollen and red and that they bleed easily when you brush your teeth.

• Dr. Darío Chaves graduated in 2002 as DDS from University of Costa Rica (UCR) and came to work at the public health clinic in Jaco as part of a Costa Rican Goverment´s program.

• Dr. Chaves opened his clinic in 2003 with one goal in mind: Give to the people on the Pacific Coast the best dental services available.

Manuel Antonio contains a charming combination of majestic rain forest, the most beautiful beaches and coral reefs. The forested hillsides are home to many of the animals, plants and flowers that are Costa Rica's unique attractions: monkeys, sloths, iguanas, toucans and scarlet macaws.

The volcanic-sedimentary cliffs rise steeply from the shoreline, providing scenic vistas and hiking trails.

There are several islands within the park’s boundaries that serve as important nesting grounds for birds like the brown booby, frigate bird and anhinga. The shores are also occasional nesting grounds for Olive Ridley and Pacific green turtles.

Carara Biological Reserve
The importance of this Biological Reserve is its geographical location, between the Tropical Dry Forest of the north region of the Pacific and the Humid Rain Forest of the south; it is a transitional forest with flora and fauna from both ecosystems.

Carara is a favorite for bird watchers. The park is the ideal environment for an enormous wildlife as the scarlet macaw, toucans, wood peckers, monkeys, herons and many more.

Note: an early morning departure is better for bird’s observation.

Poas Volcano and Oxcart Factory
The Volcan Poas National Park is one of the most visited protected areas in the country. The ride there is scenic and pleasant, coffee and ferns plantations, dairy farms and gorgeous views.

The Poas Volcano features two impressive craters. One active and holds a crater lake. Our guide will take you on a hike to see the 4331 ft. wide active crater.

There are 79 species of birds in this park, including the robin, the hummingbird and the spectacular quetzal. If you see a green-yellow squirrel, take a good look at it, it’s only found in this park, and nowhere else in the whole world!
On the way back you will visit Sarchi, known as the Oxcart land, cradle of the Costa Rican artisan work, a great opportunity to buy souvenirs.
