Nobel Peace Prize awardee visited Manipal Cure and Care health
Prof. Muhammad Yunus, Nobel Peace Prize awardee visited Manipal Cure and Care health and wellness centre in Koramangala on 19th August 2008 accompanied by Mr. Vidar Jorgensen – President Grameen America. Prof. Muhammad Yunus visited Manipal Cure and Care (MCC) to explore the unique healthcare delivery model that MCC is known for. He was welcomed and taken around the three-storeyed MCC wellness centre by Dr. Rajendra Kumar, Manager, Medical Services, MCC.
Prof. Muhammad Yunus, who is visiting various healthcare organizations in the country is looking at different scalable healthcare delivery models which can be scaled down to a small poor rural community to large scale community development project which can be deployed at the block level. After Prof. Muhammad Yunus’s visit to the centre it is said, “It is our pleasure to have a man of such caliber at our centre. Prof. Muhammad Yunus continuously looks forward at emerging health care business delivery model across the globe and his visit to Manipal Cure and Care reflects the same.”

Prof. Muhammad Yunus who won the Nobel Peace prize in 2006 for his impeccable record in the field of micro-credit is now looking forward to replicate feasible healthcare models for the rural communities in various countries of the world. After trail blazing success in rural banking in Bangladesh, now is looking forward to options in the field of healthcare.
Prof. Muhammad Yunus's long-term vision is to eliminate poverty in the world. That vision can not be realised by means of micro-credit alone. But Muhammad Yunus and Grameen Bank have shown that, in the continuing efforts to achieving this, affordable healthcare also place a pivotal role.
