Dr. George River brings more than 50 years of experience practicing hematology, medical oncology and internal medicine. Dr. River began his career at Wilford Hall Medical Center at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas. He then spent nine years as an internist specializing in hematology at Marshfield Clinic in Marshfield, Wisconsin.

Additionally, Dr. River served as Medical Director of St. Luke’s Cancer Center, which he helped to earn accreditation. Following his tenure at St. Luke’s, Dr. River headed the cancer programs at Finley Hospital in Dubuque, Iowa and Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.

Prior to joining CTCA in October 2008, Dr. River served as a hematologist/medical oncologist at Mt. Carmel Regional Medical Center/Cancer Center in Pittsburg, Kansas.

Dr. River is triple-board certified in medical oncology, hematology and internal medicine. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, and also a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society of Hematology and the American Medical Association.
