Dr. Elwin Buchel, Gastroenterologist - Abu Dhabi, UAE

Dr.Elwin Buchel completed his MBChB in 1970, his M. Med (Int.) in 1983, then was awarded a doctorate in Medicine in 2008 from University of Pretoria. He was a fellow of the Faculty of Family Practice, College of Medicine South Africa in 1976 and was a fellow of the College of Physicians of the College of Medicine of South Africa in 1983. To his credit, he took his post-graduate training in various parts of the world including Amsterdam, Netherlands; Pittsburgh, USA; Paris, France; Leuven, Belgium; and Barcelona, Spain. Since he started his medical practice, he has received several awards and distinctions: Honorary Silver Medal from the University of Pretoria for his contribution to medical education in 1990; Eugene Marais Branch-SA Academy of Arts and Science for academic excellence and artistic achievement in 1994; Heyl Award for the most compassionate doctor in 1984; SKF Gastroenterology travelling fellowship in 1985; and Roussel-SAGES award for Gastroenterologists in 1996, among others. He has clinical affiliations with Maclear North East Cape and Pretoria Academic Hospital in South Africa, then moved to UAE in 2000 to continue his practice in government hospitals within Abu Dhabi.
