Freiburg, Germany Destination Overview
Medical Center University of Freiburg
Destination Travel
Freiburg is located in Southwest Germany near the Swiss and French border, at the foothills of Schwarzwald – The Black Forest. The city was founded in 1120 and since then it increased to a population of around 200,000 people. The city’s dormant volcano, suitable climate and geographic location contributed greatly to the growth of a rare variety of grapes which in turn secured Freiburg’s reputation of the “City of Wine”.
In the surrounding villages and towns, vineyards are abundant, just waiting to be discovered. Here you can experience the local wine and take a moment to simply relax in a calm and refreshing atmosphere. We would like to recommend the “Gutedel” and “”Rulaender” wines, as these are some of the best that Germany has to offer. You will surely ask for a refill!
